How It Happened 
The Lady Barons fell to local PAC rival Bethany in three sets at home on Monday night. 

Maria Bosco and Renee Antonelli were each able to get their first kills in the early goings of set number one. With the score tied up at 8-8, Bethany would go on a run to pull ahead by five at 17-12. Franciscan would respond with a 5-1 run to pull within one, as Brynn Jacobson added her first kill of the night. Unfortunately that is as close as they would get with Bethany ending the set on a 6-1 run.

Bethany got off to a strong start in set two, as they would take an 8-2 lead. Brynn Jacobson and Caitlin O'Malley added one kill each to slow down the Bethany run. With the score at 12-4, Franciscan would jump back into this set with a 6-1 run to pull within three. The Lady Barons would pull within two after Emily Nutter added a skip-set kill. With the score at 14-12, Bethany would go on an 8-1 run to take a strong lead at 22-13. Franciscan would drop set number two, 25-17.

Renee Antonelli and Brynn Jacobson each had one kill in the beginning of set number three to help Franciscan hold an 8-6 lead. With Franciscan leading 10-9, Bethany responded with a 3-0 run to take control. Franciscan would not quit, as Emily Nutter and Renee Antonelli added kills to help tie it back up at 17-17. Bethany took control once more, by running out to a 22-18 lead. Franciscan had one last run in them, as they would tie it up with a 4-0 run that included a Nutter ace. Bethany scored three straight points to end the match.

Inside the Numbers 
- Renee Antonelli led Franciscan with seven kills.
- Sara Moore had a game high 17 digs in the libero spot for Franciscan.
- Emily Nutter assisted on 15 of Franciscan's 20 kills.
- Maria Bosco had three block assists for Franciscan.
- Bethany averaged 15 kills a set on the night.

Who's Next? 
Franciscan will remain at home to take on Chatham on Thursday at 7 pm. These two teams met earlier this season in Pittsburgh, and Chatham would win in three sets. Renee Antonelli led the way with 10 kills over three sets, but Franciscan committed too many errors to come out on top. The Lady Barons are historically successful against the Cougars, as they have won 13 of the previous 17 matches.
