How It Happened
The Lady Barons came out strong by winning the first set and third set, but then would drop the last two sets to fall to Chatham in five sets.

Franciscan started out strong in set number one, by jumping out to a 5-3 with a pair of early kills from Renee Antonelli. The Cougars would come back and take a lead at 9-6, but Franciscan would fight back to tie it up at nine. Brynn Jacobson provided a kill and ace in their 3-0 run. Both teams would exhange points back and forth until, Chatham would hold a slight lead at 20-19. Franciscan would cease the moment by going a on a 4-0 run that included a kill by Emily Nutter. Antonelli would get her fifth kill of the set to close the first set out with a Franciscan 25-22 win.

Chatham came out strong in set number two, as they would control it early with a 13-3 lead. Franciscan was able to fight back into the set momentarily, as they cut the lead to six at 14-8. Then it would be all Cougars, as an 11-3 run would even it up at one set a piece.

Francisican started out set number three much better, as action would be more back and forth. Franciscan would lead 3-2 with big kills from Pridemore and Antonelli. The Lady Barons looked like a totally different team, as they were able to get the lead stretched out to 16-12. A large part of their success this set was due to the stellar play from Brynn Jacobson, who had seven kills just in the third set. Franciscan maintained the lead, until Chatham tied it up at 19-19. The Cougars would take control and be serving for the set at 24-23. Franciscan stepped up to the challenge, and freshman Brynn Jacobson would earn back to back kills to put Franciscan in control. Ritko earned a kill for Chatham to tie it up at 25-25, but then Jaconbson's seventh kill of the set and a Chatham error would give Franciscan the third set.

Maria Bosco started off set number four with a pair of kills, as Franciscan would have the early lead at 4-2. Chatham answered with a massive 8-0 run to take control of the set. Jacobson and Antonelli each added a kill to slowly close the gap to within two at 12-10. Chatham would take charge once more and stretch the lead out to 15-10, but the Lady Barons were able to fight it back to a tie ball game at 17-17. Chatham appeared to take total control, as they were serving with a 22-19 lead, but Franciscan would fight back with a 3-0 run that included kills from Bosco and Antonelli. Nutter added a kill, and then after a Chatham error, the Lady Barons were serving match point. The Cougars dug seep and rallied together two kills in a row and an ace to win the set.

Antonelli and Jacobson kept up their strong nights, by starting off set five with a kill each to give Franciscan a 2-1 lead. The Chatham would take a firm grasp of the set with a 6-0 run. The Cougars were the first to ten points at 10-3, but the Lady Barons would not give up. They clawed back into it, as a small run would set the score at 12-10 with Chatham in the lead. The Cougars were able to finish it of with a pair of strong kills and take the match,.
