Women's Cross Country Places Second at PAC Championship

Short Story: Alison Bryant wins the Individual Title, as the team places in second. 

Race Highlights
The Franciscan Women's Cross Country had another strong showing in their second ever PAC Championship on Saturday afternoon. On the wet and cold day, the Lady Barons placed second with 55 points, 32 points better than their finish last spring.

The Lady Barons were led by senior Alison Bryant who beat the field with her time of 23:33.07. She finished more than thirty seconds ahead of the second place finisher from Waynebsurg. Next to cross for Franciscan was senior Elizabeth Atkins in 8th place. Franciscan then had a pair of newcomers finish back to back in 13th and 14th in the duo of Rachel Hurley and Jessica Campbell. Rounding out the top five for Franciscan was Ashlin LaFond in 19th place with a time of 26:43.17. 

Waynebsurg was able to win the team title with 54 points, as they have now won six straight PAC titles. The Yellow Jackets had and Lady Barons both had four players place in the top 15 in what will go down as the closest finishes in PAC history.

Franciscan will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet on November 13th in Shelbyville, Indiana. This will be the first time Franciscan has traveled west to race in their NCAA Regional Meet, as they used to always be a member of the Mid-Atlantic Region.
