How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan started the scoring off for the day, as Angela Postage took a free kick from 40yds out and found freshmen Tania Davidson on the right side of the goal. Davidson headed the ball past the goalkeeper, putting Franciscan up 1-0. Saint Vincent hung on for the remainder of the half, and the game went into halftime, Franciscan leading 1-0.Â
In the second half, Angela Postage found another assist. Postage took a corner kick from the left side. She put the ball low on the far post. Kaitrin O'Leary spun around and made an athletic back kick, to heel the ball into the net. Shortly after O'Leary's goal officials saw lightning and the game went to a rain delay with 35 minutes remaining. The players were able to take the field after the required 30 minute waiting period after seeing lightning. Franciscan's excellent conditioning allowed them to control the ball for the remainder of the second half. They would generate a handful of very high quality attacks, but were unable to add to their lead. Franciscan would win 2-0.
