How It Happened
The Franciscan Softball took advantage off an offense explosion to pick up their first win of the season, defeat Thiel 13-1.
The Barons got off to a fast start, scoring in the first inning.
Allyson Weiss led off with a single to right field. After advancing to third,
Jenny Massey singled to right field scoring Weiss to put the Barons ahead 1-0. The Barons would load the bases with singles from
Andi Queen and
Ariana Arnone, but could not plate another run.
Franciscan would add to their lead in the second inning. After
Lilly Wahl drew a walk, Weiss crushed a double to center field putting runners on second and third.
Rachel Cooper then delivered an RBI single, driving in the second run of the game. The hits kept coming with
Chloe Cross placing a single down the right field line to score Weiss. Massey would add another single, scoring Cooper and putting Franciscan ahead 4-0. Queen launched a single to left field to score Cross closing out the scoring in the inning and putting Franciscan ahead 5-0.
While Franciscan's offense continued to thrive,
Andi Queen controlled the Tomcats from in the circle. Queen would hold the Tomcats to two hits, allowing just a run and adding five strikeouts.
Weiss would break the game wide open in the third inning. After a single by Wahl and walk by
Emma Barnes, Weiss crushed a three-run home run way over the left field fence putting Franciscan ahead 8-0. Later in the inning Arnone would hit a single up the middle, scoring Cross. Brooklyn Miller and
Lilly Wahl would also add RBI singles, putting the Barons ahead 11-0 heading to the fourth inning. Massey and Arnone would drive in insurance runs in the fourth inning, putting the game out of reach.

How It Happened
Fueled for their game one victory, Franciscan's offense started fast in game two.
Allyson Weiss led off with a single rocket off the Tomcats short stop and then stole second and third bases to put herself in scoring position.
Chloe Cross would then deliver an RBI single, putting Franciscan ahead 1-0. After a
Jenny Massey single,
Ariana Arnone smashed a sliced a single into center field, scoring Cross and Massey to put the Barons ahead 3-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, game two starting pitcher led off the inning with a single right field. After advancing to second, Weiss singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. After Weiss stole second base,
Rachel Cooper crushed a double down the left field line, scoring both base runners and putting Franciscan ahead 5-0.
While the offense was rolling, Wahl kept the Tomcats off balance in the circle, pitching all five innings allowing just one run on seven hits while fanning three Thiel batters.
The Barons would tack on two more runs in the bottom of third inning with Brooklyn Miller and
Emma Barnes driving in each run. Franciscan put the game away in the bottom of the fourth inning with Queen and Arnone putting the Barons ahead 9-0. The Tomcats would plate one run in the top of the fifth inning, but Franciscan shut the door, completing the sweep with a 9-1 win.

Up Next
Franciscan will remain at home, as they prepare for a doubleheader against Grove City on Tuesday. The Lady Barons are 0-6 all-time against the Wolverines, but the two teams have not squared off in a game since 2015.
