How It Happened 
The Franciscan Lady Barons competed in their first home game of the 2021 season, and their first game played on the new turf surface at Franciscan University. The broke in the new facility with a 22-9 win over Westminster in a non-conference matchup. Grace Deegan and Annie King each netted five goals in the win.

Grace Deegan did not waste time to start to show off her offensive skills, as she scored the first two goals of the game. Franciscan would hold a 2-0 lead, and then Westminster added their first goal of the game, the Titans would cut it to a one goal margin later in the half, but never would be able to take the lead. Annie King would then get her scoring started, as she would score the next two goals for the Lady Barons. Maureen Cain added her first one of the night shortly after, adn the Lady Barons would be leading 5-1. The Titans would have their best offensive run, as they scored three straight to cut within one of the Lady Barons.

The Lady Barons would pull away, as they added seven unanswered goals by six different scorers. With less than a minute remaining, each team would add a goal, to send it to the half, Franciscan leading 13-5.

The Titans would score the first goal of the second half to pull within seven of the lead. Annie King would answer yet again with another goal for Franciscan. The Titans would not quit, as they would add a man down goal, after the penalty by Riley O'Brien. The Titans would score two goals this half with a man disadvantage, The Lady Barons would get their offense going again, as Deegan and King added a goal each with a little over twenty minutes to play in the game. The Titans would have one final push, as they added a pair of goals, before Franciscan would go on a 6-0 run to end this one. 

Inside the Numbers 
- Grace Deegan scored five goals, giving her 90 goals in her Franciscan career.
- Deegan added three assists, to give her a team high eight points.
- Annie King scored five goals, a season high.
- Joanna Hilkert had a team high six assists, while older sister Maria Hilkert added five assists. 
- Maureen Cain won 15 draw controls, a Franciscan record for most in a game.
- Riley O'Brien scored her first hat trick of her career.
- Mary Bohli caused a team high three turnovers.
- Sam Callahan had 14 saves, and notched her second win of her career between the pipes.

Who's Next? 
Franciscan will return to PAC conference play,as they continue their four game home stand, on Thursday when they host Saint Vincent. The Lady Barons are 1-6 all-time against the Bearcats, with the lone win coming in their last matchup in 2019. Grace Deegan would lead the Lady Barons to that 16-12 win, as she went off for seven goals
