Beaver Falls, Pa. - Franciscan University moved on to 2-0 in the PAC with a 6-3 win at Geneva. The match would not be settled until late in the night, after rain showers would move the match to an indoor facility.Â
Doubles
The Haitian duo ofÂ
Gary Pierre andÂ
Billy Presume would battle out an 8-7 win at #1 doubles. They would win the tiebreaker 7-4.
Luke Conrad and
Joe Mulligan would win by the same score at #2 doubles.
Joseph Suess and
Aidan Palladino would fall in a very close match 8-7 at #3 doubles. They would lose the tiebreaker 7-5. The Barons would head into singles play leading 2-1.
Singles
The indoor venue only had three courts, so #1 ,#2 and #3 singles would play first. The Golden Tornadoes were able to tie it up at 3-3, as
Gary Pierre and
Billy Presume lost in #1 and #3 singles.
Luke Conrad would give the Barons their third point by winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Then the #4, #5 and #6 singles matches would begin.
Joe Mulligan would secure the fourth point with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #6 singles.
Christian Cappello would then bring home the team victory by winning #4 singles. Cappello would lose the first set, win the second 6-0 and then win the third set 10-3.
Aidan Palladino would fall at #5 singles, but the Barons would be victorious 5-4 on the night.
Who's Next?Â
Franciscan will return to action Friday afternoon at Saint Vincent. This will be the first of three matches in three days for the Barons, as they face many of the best programs in the PAC. Saint Vincent is undefeated in the early goings on their season, but the Barons are undefeated all-time against the Bearcats. The two teams have not played each other since 2012, when they won 6-3.
