How It Happened
The Women's Volleyball team hosted Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening in search of their first conference win of the season. The visiting Bearcats would play the role of spoiler, as they defeated the Lady Barons in straight sets.

Set number one belonged to the Bearcats, as they were the first ones to 15 points at 15-4. Emily Nutter added her first kill, and Brynn Jacobson added an ace to neutralize the St, Vincent attack momentarily. Later in the set, Renee Antonelli added a pair of kills and an ace of her own, but the Bearcats would hold on to win 25-12.

Antonelli would keep up the strong play in set number two, as she added a kill and ace in the early going to pull Franciscan within one at 7-6. St. Vincent would then have a crucial 4-0 run to stretch the lead. Emily Nutter snapped the run with a crucial kill. The Lady Barons would not quit battling, even when the Bearcats were one point from victory at 24-16. Franciscan rallied their own 4-0 run with a Maria Bosco kill to pull within four points, but Saint Vincent's Krocjancic would get the 25th point on a big kill.

Franciscan had their best start to a set in the third, as they jumped out to an early 4-1 lead. Maria Bosco would add a pair of aces to stretch the lead up to five points at 8-3 and force the Bearcats to use an early timeout. Shortly after, the Bearcats would respond with  5-0 run of their own to give them an 11-9 lead. Franciscan would only be able to pull within one point a couple of times, but the Bearcats responded each time with a crucial point. They took the third set by a score of 25-18 to defeat Franciscan in straight sets.
