How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan got on the board early off a goal from Claire Dawyot. Dawyot was in the middle of the box and received a centering pass from Tania Davidson. The game was tightly contested for the next 15 minutes. Davidson's speed was difficult for Christendom to handle. Davidson had a few very good early crossing opportunities, but they failed to produce a SOG. Coaches on the sideline yelled out some advice for the freshmen. She listened to the her coaching, and on her very next crossing attempt, Tania Davidson found Kaitrin O'Leary getting her second assist for the day. Christendom managed to get off their heels and limit the Lady Barons opportunities, and the game went into halftime 2-0 Franciscan leading.Â
The beginning of the second half looked much like the end of the first half. The ball bounced back and forth between each side of the field, as each team made deep aggressively looking for scoring opportunities. This style of play seemed to favor Franciscan. Christendom stopped making the aggressive runs downfield, and spent the last 25 minutes mostly in their defensive zone. The well-conditioned Barons began to capitalize on the tired Crusaders. In the last 25 minutes of play, Casey Boin, Anni Winogradoff, Claire Dawyot, and Tania Davidson each netted a goal.Â
