How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Women's Soccer team got PAC play off on the right foot, as they defeated Waynesburg in a thrilling 2-1 comeback win.
In the first half, both teams were kept in check. Franciscan was barely able to out shot Waynesburg 8-7 in the first forty five minutes, but the Yellow Jackets had more shots on goal with four. Rebekka Dill made a couple stellar saves, including an amazing last second punch on a rocketed shot. The game was quite physical, but the refs called it even with four fouls on each team at the half.Â
Heading into the second half, it seemed that the first team to score would have best chance to win. Ten minutes into the second half, the Waynesburg defense pushed a ball into the offensive end. Demaree Livingston found the Yellow Jackets leading scorer, Haley Johnson who struck a beautiful shot past Dill. The Yellow Jackets had all the momentum, as things were looking bleak for Franciscan. In the 72nd minute the Lady Barons would be able to push the ball into the box, where Kaitrin O'Leary centered it perfectly to Bella Rubino for a quick goal. That was the spark Franciscan needed to get their energy and momentum back. Then nearly ten minutes later, Tania Davidson controlled a ball in the center of the field 30 yards from goal. She made a defender miss and got the ball on her stronger left foot. She sent a shot to the high right corner of the goal, that just snuck by Blair to give Franciscan a 2-1 lead. The Lady Barons were able to lock in on defense and run out the remaining clock to clinch the huge win.
Inside the Numbers Â

Who's Next?Â
The Lady Barons will hit the road, as they make the short trip to Bethany on Saturday. Franciscan has had success over the years against Bethany, as they are 10-3-1 all-time against them. Last season, they Lady Barons were able to defeat the Bison 4-1 in the season opener. The Lady Barons had a pair of goals from Claire Dawyot and Sarah Cocozza in the win. Bethany is currently 4-4, as they started off the season strong, but have lost their last two games. One of those loses was to Chatham, to set their conference record at 0-1.Â
