How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Volleyball made the trip south the Waynesburg for a conference matchup on Saturday evening. The Barons beat the Yellow Jackets in three earlier this season, but this game was totally flipped, as the Yellow Jackets swept the Barons.

Gabrielle Disselkamp led the way for the Barons in the beginning of set one with three kills while helping the Barons take a 7-6 lead. The Yellow Jackets would respond with a 5-0 run of their own to take a lead that they would not relinquish. Mary Jean Cadman would get her first kil of the season to end one Waynesburg rin and start a Franciscan 4-1 run to cut within five points. The Yellow Jackets would manage to close out the first set by a score of 25-17.

Cadman, Wallace, and Disselkamp each had one kill while the Barons jumped out to a 5-3 lead. Later in the set, Antonelli add a couple of kills to help Franciscan keep the lead at 10-9. The Yellow Jackets would respond with their largest run of the day thus far, as a 7-0 run would give them a 16-10 edge. Franciscan would answer with a 6-2 run of their own to pull to within two at 18-16. Waynesburg would hold on to win 25-19 and take the second set.

Madison Kozares had the opening kill in set three, as Franciscan took a 2-0 lead. Waynesburg would then score eight unanswered to take a substantial lead at 8-2. Kozares added a couple more kills later on in this set to help Franciscan get within four at 17-13. Renee Antonelli proved a veteran spark with four kills to keep the Barons in this one, as the score would be 22-19, Waynesburg leading. It would be the closest set, but the Yellow Jackets prevailed to win 25-21.

Inside the Numbers
- Renee Antonelli led all players with 10 kills on the day.
- Three Barons had 20+ digs, as Sara Moore led the way with 33.
- Grace Wallace had 22 set assists, and Elizabeth Libel added a pair.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will return home to take on Grove City on Wednesday at Madonna High School in Weirton, W.Va. This will be the fourth different venue the Barons have played in this season, as Finnegan Fieldhouse needed a total floor replacement after it was flooded late this summer. With all the added obstacles, they have managed to hold a 5-3 record at home with just two home games left on the schedule. Grove City looks to be a tough test, as they will come to town with a winning record and sit near the top of the conference standings. The Barons last win against the Wolverines came in 2015 in a neutral site game that was also in West Virginia, as they played at Bethany that day.
