How It Happened
The Franciscan Barons shutout the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 4-0 last night and clinch the #2 seed in the PAC Conference tournament along with a first-round playoff bye. The Barons applied the pressure the entire game. They have finished the regular season playing one of their strongest games yet. Perfect timing as they make another run at the PAC title. Late in the first half, the Barons found the back of the net when freshman forward, Lucas Cross, was assisted by freshman midfielder, Augustine Rubino in the 39th minute.
After leading the Yellow Jackets 1-0 at halftime, the Barons did not end their commanding and effective play. In the 70th minute, the Barons season leader in goals struck once again as sophomore midfielder, Ryan Miller seized another opportunity and scored his 8th goal of the season assisted again by freshman midfielder Augustine Rubino and sophomore forward Jonathan Schriner. The Barons defense shutout the Yellow Jackets, and limited them to only 4 shots on goal all game. The defense even took part in the high scoring shutout victory tonight when freshman defender, Aidan Henninger scored a goal in the 72nd minute. Then their final goal of their assertive win came in the 85th minute by freshman midfielder, Zachary Muldoon.
The Barons conclude their regular season games and will look to carry their momentum into the playoffs as they hope to win their first PAC Conference title.
