Franciscan Men's Cross Country proved on Saturday that they are still the top team in the conference by winning the PAC Championship with a team score of 41 points. The Barons came in as an underdog of sorts, as they were picked third by the PAC Coaches in the PAC Preseason Poll with just one first place vote. Saint Vincent, the host school fot the championship, earned six first place votes in the preseason poll to be the favorites, and Allegheny was picked second. Allegheny placed second with 56 team points with five runners in the top fifteen. Geneva placed third with 67 points with three runners in the top ten, and Saint Vincent placed fourth with 80 points. Franciscan Men's Cross Country has now won six Conference Championships in program history with five in a row, as they won the 2018 and 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships before joining the PAC in 2020.
Miguel Daez shaved off 12 seconds from his race earlier this season on the same course to win the PAC Championship. His time of 25:27.08 would beat the field by over 28 seconds, as he was just two tenths of a second off his personal best eight kilometer time.
Danny Donovan was next to finish for Franciscan, as he placed fifth for his best placing of the season. Sophomore
David Di Nardo made it three Barons in the Top 10, as he placed eighth.
George Kaftan placed 11th with a time of 26:39.28. Then the fifth finished for Franciscan was
Conal Delaney, the reigning Newcomer of the Year, secured the Championship with his 16th place finish.Â

Franciscan will now prepare for the NCAA Division III Great Lake Regional Meet in Holland, Michigan on November 2nd. The Barons placed 6th out of 42 teams there last season in their best team finish in school history.
