How It HappenedÂ
The Franciscan Lady Barons return home and add a win to get to .500 before the spring break. This game was decided very quickly as Franciscan scored the first 7 goals of the game, all in he first quarter. Grace Deegan scored a hat trick just 14 minutes into the game. Her teammates Annie King and Joanna Hilkert each participated in putting Franciscan up by seven so early. Heidelberg managed to control the ball better at the end of the first quarter, and scored on Franciscan. twice.Â
In the 2nd quarter the scoring slowed down. Rose Kane made two excellent saves to keep Heidelberg from adding any more points before halftime. Theresa Lyle, Mary Bohli, and Riley O'Brien each added a goal to bring Franciscan's lead to 10-2. The Heidelberg goalie, Lane, had an impressive game. She was under pressure for the nearly full 60 minutes of play. She stood tall in the goal, and saved many 1 on 1 looks from dangerous Franciscan shooters.
The second half was much like the second quarter. Franciscan put up a good number of shots, most of which Lane saved, and Rose Kane stopped most attempts that came her way. Heidelberg only scored twice more in the second half. Franciscan added 5 goals in the second half from; Grace Deegan, Annie King, Theresa Lyle, and Joanna Hilkert.Â
