How It HappenedÂ
The Franciscan men's lacrosse team ended non-conference play with an explanation point, as they defeated Mount St. Joseph. Freshman Samuel Marshall stepped up in a massive way with eight goals and eleven points on the day to register his best offensive day of his young career.
The Lions struck first, as they found the back of the net five minutes into this one. Samuel Marshall would get the Baron offense started, as Dominic Scordino found him for the equalizer at the seven minute mark. Marshall would give Franciscan the lead to end the first quarter on a great pass from Alexander Dhabliwala. The Barons would not look back, as they scored four in a row to start the second quarter. The Lions would score their second, but then Dhabliwala would add his second goal of the quarter to send us to half with a 7-2 lead. Mount St. Joseph had a lot of good looks, as they had 28 first half shots, but Richard Vale II was excellent with 16 saves in the opening thirty minutes.Â
The third quarter would be Franciscan's best quarter, as they scored seven times while holding Mount St. Joseph to one. Samuel Marshall got hot, as he scored five goals this quarter to give him eight on the day. The fourth quarter was more contested, but Franciscan would still fine the final frame with four goals to the their opponents three. Dominic Scordino would score three of them for the Barons, as they would go on the win 18-6.
