How It Happened
Franciscan celebrated senior day in the PAC doubleheader matchup against Thiel. They honored Rachel Cooper, Jenny Massey, Chloe Cross, Brooklynn Miller, and Elizabeth Gibson. The game was scoreless for the first two innings, then stayed tied 1-1 until the top of the 7th. Thiel won game one 5-1 on a last inning surge.
Rachel Cooper was perfect from the plate in game 1. She hit the lead off single to center field. Cooper was caught stealing second base and registered the only Baron hit for the inning. In the second inning, Brooklynn Miller doubled to left field, followed by a single to center from Ariana Arnone. The next two Baron batters struck out then flied out leaving Arnone and Miller on base. In the third inning, Rachel Cooper singled to the shortstop, but Thiel turned a double play with the next batter retiring the inning.
In the bottom of the 4th the Barons scored off a monster shot from Ariana Arnone and tied the game. Elizabeth Gibson lead the inning with a single to center field. Chloe Cross got on base off a fielder's choice, getting Gibson out at second. Ariana Arnone stepped up to the plate and crushed one passed the center fielder. Arnone made it all the way to third, and Cross ran across home plate tying the game. The Barons had three more hits in the next couple innings, but didn't register anymore runs. However, Thiel turned 4 hits into 4 runs in the top of the 7th bringing their lead to 5-1.
The Barons had equal offensive opportunities as the Tomcats. They had 9 hits compared to Thiel's 10, but timing turned 4 more hits into runs.

How It Happened
Franciscan got off to an early lead, but Thiel made a mid-game comeback to take and extend the lead. Kimberly McDaniels lead the batting order hitting a lead off double to center field. Elizabeth Gibson hit another double two batters later scoring McDaniels. Rachel Cooper went 3 for 3 in game 1, and in her first at bat game 2 homered to center field. McDaniels, Gibson, and Cooper all scored in the inning putting the Barons up 3-0.
In the second inning, Kimberly McDaniels hit another double to center field. Jenny Massey followed her and hit a home run to center field. Chloe Cross hit a double to left field, but was left on base. This extended the lead to 5-2.
In the third inning Thiel scored 4 runs off 2 hits due to Baron errors. The Barons had tremendous offensive production in the first two innings and were only down 1 run in the bottom of the third. Rachel Cooper reached base off an error, then Ariana Arnone hit a single to right field. This put Cooper in scoring position. The next three hitters all got out, and Arnone and Cooper were left on base. In the top of the fourth Thiel continued their hot streak scoring 4 more runs.
