How It HappenedÂ
The Barons faced top seed Washington & Jefferson at home. A quick start from the President's and a scoreless second quarter was too big of a hole for the Barons to overcome. The Barons lost to the President's and fell to sixth in the PAC. President's Jenkins scored the games first goal 1:40 into the game. Late in the first quarter the Barons found an answer and got a goal from veteran Grace Deegan. This brought the score to 2-1. The Barons allowed one more goal before the quarter was over, so heading into the second they were trailing 3-1.Â
The President's controlled the field well for the entire quarter. The Barons only saw 3 significant offensive possessions for the entire quarter and none registered a shot on goal. Going into halftime the Barons were losing 8-1.
For the rest of the game the Barons were tit for tat with the President's, but couldn't gain any ground on their lead. In the third quarter, Annie King, Joanna Hilkert, and Katheryn Brehm each scored a goal. This kept the Barons even with the President's. Heading into the final quarter the score was 11-4.
In the fourth quarter Joanna Hilkert scored her second goal of the game. Margaret McKee took the ball from the defensive end and charged the net. She took a rare shot attempt for her and turned it into a much needed goal, and her second on the season. Riley O'Brien added a goal, her 14 on the season. Once again, the President's kept pace with the Barons and they were unable to gain ground on the point deficit. The final score was 15-7.
