Franciscan 9, Thiel 0
Doubles
The Barons started the day with an automatic point due to forfeit. #3's
Aidan Palladino and
Leo Morella were credited the win since Thiel didn't have a doubles pair for them to face. The #2 pairing of
Josh Robbins and
Aidan Howard took their match 8-1. The duo of
Gary Pierre and
Travis Mistry won their match 8-2. Going into singles play the Barons were leading 3-0.
Singles
In the absence of
Billy Presume, the Barons shifted their lineup around.
Aidan Howard hit in the #6 spot and
Leo Morella hit in the #5 spot.
Aidan Palladino was the #4, and
Josh Robbins was moved up to the #3. Thiel's 3 games won in doubles play ended up being their only games won. Right off the bat,
Aidan Howard was awarded a win due to forfeit. The rest of the Barons ALL won their matches in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). A remarkable accomplishment to win all singles matches in straight sets and be only 3 games off winning a straight match.
The win tonight closes out the regular season, and the Barons sit at #2 in the conference. The family atmosphere that Coach
Scott Greve brings to the team, and the hard work and dedication the young men bring all year long led to the Barons overcoming lower than desired preseason expectations. Going into the playoffs, the Barons are looking sharp and at their best.
Who's Next?
That concludes the regular season for Franciscan. They have clinched the #2 seed in the PAC Championship Tournament, so they will have a bye into Friday's Semifinal. They will await to see who they play based on the results of Tuesday's Quarterfinal matchups.
