How It Happened
Kimbelry McDaniels hit a solo home run in the 1st inning to tie the game 1-1. In the 2nd
Elizabeth Gibson led off with a double deep to center field. A SAC fly by
Alexis McKnight sent Gibson home giving the Barons a 2-1 lead. McDaniels pitched a great inning getting herself out of a bases loaded jam and getting help from her 3B Alexis Arnone and SS
Brooklynn Miller.
In the 3rd, the Barons were facing bases loaded with only 1 out, thanks to these ladies they got out of the inning only giving up 2 runs.
Rachel Cooper drove a deep ball to left center, but the Geneva CF was able to run it down and get the out.
Kimberly McDaniels hit a single to left field to get on base. McDaniels then stole second base.
Jenny Massey hit a single deep to right field scoring McDaniels and tying the game.
In the 4th, needing to get out of the inning
Kimberly McDaniels fielded a shot straight at her head. McDaniels stood her ground, caught the line drive, and turned it to 1st base for a double play.
In the 5th, Jenny led the inning off with a grounder passed the second baseman. Arianna Arnone was hit in her elbow by the pitch advancing her to 1st and Massey to second. Geneva managed to run down two foul balls to close the inning leaving Arnone and Massey on base.
In the 7th,
Felicia MacGillivray led off the inning with a double to the center field warning track.
Chloe Cross followed her up with a home run to center field scoring two runs. The score was 7-5 and the Barons were at the heels of Geneva and coming back.
Rachel Cooper hit a big shot to the outfield, but a great catch from Geneva got Cooper out.
Kimberly McDaniels was at the plate next. McDaniels hit a low shot with side spin at the second baseman. The ball jumped to the left after hitting the ground, but the Geneva infielder was able to gather it and throw her out at 1st.
At the Plate

Chloe Cross was at the top of the lineup. She went 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI's.

How It Happened
In the top of the 1st, starter Lily Wahl got help from her fielder's grabbing two fly balls, and with 2 outs she threw an outside strike catching the batter looking and closing the inning.
Rachel Cooper had the lead off single. Cooper bunted toward third base and raced the throw. Cooper just beat the throw and was safe at 1st.
Kimberly McDaniels hit a deep shot to left getting passed a diving outfielder. With two runners in scoring position,
Elizabeth Gibson stepped up to the plate. Gibson hit a low shot to right center. Gibson stopped at first base, but Cooper and McDaniels scored, and the Barons were up 2-0.
In the 2nd, Lily Wahl got the second and third out striking the batter out swinging. Baron batters put the bat on the ball, but couldn't get passed Geneva fielder's to get on base.
In the 3rd, Lily closed the inning with another strikeout her third for the game. In the bottom of the inning
Chloe Cross lead off with a single to RF.
Rachel Cooper was at the plate next with 1 out. Cooper hit a line drive to third base. In a miraculous play, the third baseman caught the ball below her left thigh then quickly turned the play to first base throwing Cross out and closing the inning.
In the 4th, the Barons were in a tight spot with the bases loaded. Lily Wahl pitched her way out and got two batters in a row out on fly outs. Wahl closed the inning only allowing 2 runs and leaving 3 runners on base. In the bottom of the 4th,
Jenny Massey lead off the inning with a home run to left center tying the game 3-3.
Elizabeth Gibson followed Massey with a single over the head of the SS. The next batters each grounded out, and Gibson was left on base.
In the 5th, Geneva scored two runs going up 5-3.
Chloe Cross and
Brooklynn Miller each got hits, but were unable to be batted in.
Going into the bottom of the 6th, the Barons were losing 8-3. They needed some quality at bats to begin their comeback.
Ariana Arnone led off the inning and cranked a deep shot to left center for a solo home run. At the close of the 6th the Barons were down 8-4.
The 7th inning was packed with offense for the Barons.
Brooklynn Miller led off the 7th inning with a deep shot to left field earning her a double.
Chloe Cross followed her with a double to center right scoring Miller.
Rachel Cooper hit a bunt single.
Kimberly McDaniels got a single, but Cooper was tagged out at second.
Jenny Massey hit a single passed the shortstop scoring Cross and advancing McDaniels to second.
Elizabeth Gibson hit a burner tight down the third base line and Geneva watched it hoping it would go foul. The ball stayed in play and Gibson got on base.
Ariana Arnone came to the plate with Gibson on first, Massey on second, and McDaniels on third. Arnone hit a grounder passed second base scoring McDaniels and Massey tying the game 8-8.
Alexis McKnight followed up with a walk-off grounder passed second base. Gibson ran in from third scoring the winning run. In total the Barons scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win game 2.
Coach McKnight had this to say about his teams effort, "Geneva is a very good team and a regular top team in the conference. This was our best win of the season, especially since we scored five runs in te bottom fo the 7th. Everyone contributed and the team deserved to be on the plus side in one of these types of games. The team has been fighting hard in many competitive games, and this was a very good win.
