How It Happened
Franciscan and Thiel had to wait till Sunday May 8th to play for the first time this season. It was a special day on multiple fronts, as it was Mother's Day, as well and Senior Day and Graduation at Thiel for their seniors. The Barons would look to spoil the day and finish out the season strong, as these would be the last two games of the season.
The Barons would jump out to an early lead, as the would load the bases without a hit and two outs in the first inning.
Dylan Robb drew a walk that scored
Patrick Wallace.
Aidan Hickey kept that rally going, by singling in
Brendan Burke. Then senior,
Daniel Halsey hit an infield single that scored his fellow classmate,
Jacob Whitmore, who got the start at first base. Starter
Patrick Wallace would run with the lead, as he put up zeros in the first and second inning.Â
The Barons would add on in the third, as Wallace would help himself. His RBI single scored
Aidan Hickey, who started off 2-2 while helping the Barons take a 4-0 lead. The Tomcats would get to Wallace for a run of their own in the home half of the third. Wallace got three straight outs to minimize the damage after a walk and double to lead off the inning. Thiel would carry that momentum into the fifth, as they plated three unearned runs on a wild pitch and a throwing error.
It would be a tied ball game, as we headed into the final frame. The Barons would load the bases full after the Tomcats intentionally walked Hickey with one out in the seventh.
Daniel Halsey would deliver a shot deep enough to center field that would score
Brendan Burke on a sacrifice fly. The Barons would go to
Ryan Neely in the bottom of the seventh to attempt the save. After two quick out, Neely would walk Wentling. Trey Williams would then deliver a two run home run to right field to give Thiel the walk-off winner.

How It Happened
Game two was more of a pitching dual, as both teams would be scoreless through the first six innings.
Jacob Watson would give Franciscan six scoreless before he ran into some trouble in the bottom of the seventh. The Tomcats would score three runs on him before coach
Rick Carver would go to the bullpen.
Samuel Tyler would get the final out of the seventh, but then he would not have his same success from game one, as he gave up two runs in the eighth to set the score at 5-0. The Barons would lead off the ninth with a walk and a single, but then go down in order to end this one at 5-0.
