Race Highlights
The Franciscan Men's Cross Country team was one of 14 teams to compete at Notre Dame for the 2022 National Catholic Championships. Franciscan placed 7th out of the 14 teams, half of which were NCAA Division I teams. Of the Division II and III teams the Barons placed third out of seven.Â
Miguel Daez led the way for Franciscan with his best finish of his career at this event. He placed 35th in the 163 runner field with a time of 26:26.70 in this five mile race. After one mile Daez was sitting at 84th place, but he ran his race with steady improvement to beat many Division I runners in the process. Not far behind Daez was
Conal Delaney with a very strong showing by placing 40th.
David Di Nardo and
Danny Donovan placed 59th and 63nd respectively. The fifth finisher for the Barons was
George Kaftan in 89th.Â
Host Notre Dame won the event with just 15 team points. Among the smaller schools, Loras was the top team with 76 points. They were the 33rd ranked school in the nation, according to this week's coaches' poll.

Franciscan will now have a couple of weeks off before they compete at Lehigh for the Paul Short Invite in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It will be another deep, talented field for Franciscan to prove their talents against many of the best team across all Divisions. The last time Franciscan has ran on this course was in 2019 when they hosted the NCAA Mid-East Regional.
15th Annual Kelly Roggensack Memorial Races
The Annual Kelly Roggensack Memorial Races will take place for the 15th time in its history, once again kicking off a busy Saturday on Homecoming Weekend. The races will begin at 8 am onÂ
October 1st, 2022, with the 1K Kids Fun Run followed by the 5K Run & 3K Walk at 8:20 am.Â
