The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the cross country weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon, and Franciscan had three athletes honored: freshman
Cooper Valancius (Perry Hall, Md. / Homeschooled), freshman
Hannah Sheets (Corning, Ohio / Crooksville), and junior
Emily Maag (Cleona, Pa. / Annville-Cleona). Sheets was named Newcomers of the Week, while Maag and Valancius were named the PAC Runners of the Week.
Valancius placed 135th overall at the All-Ohio InterCollegiate Challenge last Friday for his first 8k run. His time of 27:36.3 was the 14th fastest posted by a Division III freshman at the meet, and was the fastest time for his team at the meet. Sheets placed 117th overall with a 6k time of 24:58.5 at the Challenge, which was the 15th fastest time by a DIII freshman in the race. She also scored points for her team. For Maag, she finished first for her Baron squad with a time of 24:22.4 to place 80th overall. The time position her as the 31st fastest DIII runner in the race.
The Barons will next race on Saturday, October 3rd, with meets at the University of Louisville and Muskingum University.
