Race Highlights
The Franciscan Women's Cross Country Team began their 2022 season with a 5k run at Westminster on Friday evening. Five teams as well as three individuals from the host team, Westminster, participated in this 59 runner field. Franciscan junior
Claire Walters was the first to cross the finish line, as she introduced herself to her new conference. She beat the field by nearly thirty eight seconds. A field which included Division I Robert Morris, as well as Grove City and Allegheny who were ranked ahead of the Barons in the PAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Jessica Campbell would finish 17th with a sub-20 minute time.
Rachel Hurley was not too far behind her with a time of 20:13.53 to finish 26th. Freshman
Catherine London was near the middle of the pack, as she finished 38th in her collegiate debut.
Allison Sommer would round out the top five Franciscan finishers with a 42nd place finish.
The Lady Barons 102 team points would place them fifth. Allegheny would win this event with a team score of 49 points.

Up Next
Franciscan returns to action next Friday at Saint Vincent. This will serve as a preview to the course that the PAC Championship will be hosted at in October. Seven other PAC schools will be competing in this 6K race. This will be the first time that Franciscan has competed in Latrobe since the abbreviated 2020-21 season.
Alison Bryant won the event that day, as the Barons placed second as a team.
