How It Happened
In the Franciscan Barons first conference matchup of the season, they neutralized the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 2-0. The Barons and Yellow Jackets were neck and neck until the tie was broken in the 37th minute of the game by senior midfielder, Bella Rubino, who scored the Barons first goal of the game. Then 25 minutes later, only 17 minutes after halftime, freshman midfielder Mary Wieszczek scored the second goal of the game for the Barons in the 62nd minute.
The Barons played solid defense and kept the ball downfield almost all game limiting the Yellow Jackets to few opportunities to score. The Barons controlled the ball well and kept the ball in Yellow Jacket territory for most of the game.
With the win over the Yellow Jackets, the Barons are now 1-0 in conference and will look to carry their momentum to their next game against Grove City College this Saturday at home!

Inside the Numbers
-The Barons out shot the Yellow Jackets 31-3
-This is Rebekka Dill's 4th shutout of the year
-Mary Wieszczek's goal marks her first collegiate goal and point of her career
-Bella Rubino's goal was her 4th on the year
-Anni Winnogradoff had the lone assist for the day

Who's Next?
Franciscan will host Grove City on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Health System Field. The Barons are in search of their first win against the Wolverines, as they are 0-5 in previous matchups. The Wolverines were picked to finish second by the PAC coaches in their preseason poll, but they have started off slow through a tough non-conference schedule. We do share some common opponents, as we have both defeated Pitt.-Greensburg and lost to Carnegie Mellon. Stop out Saturday or tune in to the live stream for what should be a great test of a pair of PAC schools.
