How It Happened
Franciscan Women bounce back after a loss in the first game of the tournament with a 3-2 win over the Fredonia Blue Devils. Juliana Rubino opened up the scoring with a goal from Corinne Sanborn in the 20th minute. The Blue Devils tied the game a few minutes later. The game entered halftime even at 1-1.
The Barons put early pressure on the Blue Devils to start the second half. Angela Postage took a corner kick in the 49th minute that eventually found its way to Juliana Rubino. Juliana got a shot off that was saved. A few touches later Tania Davidson took a shot at the net which was also saved by the goalkeeper. The third time was the charm. After a minute of probing the defense, and a total of 5 minutes the Barons stayed on the offensive end, Claire Salyer found the back of the net off a pass from Angela Postage. The Barons immediately stole possession of the ball from Fredonia and Tania Davidson put a giant shot from the outside left corner to beat the goalkeeper for the second time in as many minutes. The Barons held on to the 3-1 lead until a last chance effort from Fredonia. The Blue Devils scored a second goal with 2 minutes remaining in the game. They weren't able to muster another shot and the Barons closed the game up 3-2.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will return home to take on a talented Carnegie Mellon team on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Health System Field. This is a rematch from a tough matchup two seasons ago, that saw the Tartans win by a score of 2-0. The Tartans made it to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 last season, and they are ranked #15 in the nation as of the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll. It will be a tough non-conference test once again for Franciscan, that will help prepare them for PAC conference play.
