How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Volleyball extended their winning streak to three in a row, as they swept Penn State Shenango  in three sets on Thursday evening on the road. It is the first time the Barons have swept back to back opponents since 2016 when they did so to Chatham and Marietta.

The Lions would hold an early 3-2 lead in set one, but then a pair of Franciscan 3-0 runs would set the score at 8-4. Penn State Shenango was able to cut it to within two at 9-7 before Franciscan would go on a 6-0 run to be the first to 15 points at 15-7. Grace Wallace, Meghan Hickey, and Renee Antonelli all had one kill in that run for Franciscan. The Lions responded in a big way with a 7-1 run to cut it to within two once again. The Barons would then close out the set with a 9-0 run. Freshman Gabrielle Disselkamp served for eight of those points with six points coming on service aces.

The Barons picked up right where the left off, as they opened up set two on another 9-0 run. Disselkamp would have two kills and Gracie Francis added one in that opening run. Action would then go back and forth, as the score would be 14-5 before a Franciscan 8-0 run would put this one out of reach. The Barons had five kills in this run with Madison Kozares and Rani Hebert each having two of them. Franciscan won the second set by a score of 25-6.

The Lions would not go down easy, as they started off set number three on a 5-0 run to take their largest lead of the night. Franciscan would slowly climb there way back into the set as the Lions would be leading 8-5. Franciscan responded with an 8-0 run to retake the lead, including three service aces from Renee Antonelli. Errors by the Lions would begin to add up, as the Barons would build their lead up to 19-12. Franciscan would finally close out the third set with a 4-0 run that ended with an ace from Sara Moore

Inside the Numbers
- Hebert and Disselkamp led the way with six kills each.
- Disselkamp had a career high eight aces, second most ever by a Baron in a three set match.
- 15 team service aces is the 5th most in program history in a three set match.
- Sara Moore had a team high 10 digs.
- Grace Wallace had 12 set assists, while Elizabeth Libel added five.

Who's Next?
Franciscan has no competition over the weekend, as they prepare for their first home game of the season on Tuesday. They will host Penn State Beaver at 7:00 p.m. at INDIAN CREEK HIGH SCHOOL IN WINTERSVILLE, OHIO. Finnegan Fieldhouse was flooded last month, and over time the hardwood playing surface has warped so much to make it unplayable for competition. This will be Franciscan's first home, away from home, competition of the season, as the floor is still in need of replacement.

The Barons are 8-2 all-time against the Lions, including sweeps in their last seven matchups. These two teams have not played each other though since 2013. The Lions are 0-3 thus far this season, but have a Tournament at Christendom this weekend before coming to Wintersville on Tuesday night.
