Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Aaron Spoelman

Offense Heats Up with Three Games Remaining

Franciscan 4, Chatham 1

Starting XI
Elise Winogradoff, Teaghan Elmore, Gabriella De La Torre, Isabella Corley, Maria De La Torre, Tania Davidson, Angela Postage, Lillian Torbeck, Juliana Rubino, Abby Measor, & Goalkeeper - Rebekka Dill

How It Happened
Before last night's game, the Barons were sitting one spot out of playoffs. The last couple of games the potent offense sputtered, but after a 4-1 win they are back on track with two of their last three games against opponents directly above them in standings.
The first half was a very quiet half for both teams. In the 24th minute, Tania made her first shot of the game count to open up scoring. After that goal each team saw only one shot each before halftime.
Abby Measor started the second half, and made an immediate impact scoring the second goal of her career in the opening minutes of the second half. This goal would be the winning goal and put the Barons up 2-0 at that point. Tania and Juliana Rubino each added another goal to the tally to have a 4-0 lead on the Cougars. It wasn't until the waning seconds of regulation that the Cougars found the back of the net to get on the board.
The Barons have St. Vincent next who is sitting in 4th place. A win against the Bearcats vaults them up the standings and at a tie with the Bearcats at 13 PAC points. There is a chance the Barons could host a quarterfinal game with three more wins to finish up the season.

Inside the Numbers
-Dill recorded 3 saves
-Davidson led the team with two goals. Her first multi-goal game since her hat-trick at Thiel
-In Conference play the Barons are the second-best offense in points scored

Who's Next?
Franciscan will conclude three straight games on the road at Saint Vincent on Saturday. The Barons are 3-5 all-time against the Bearcats with wins in their last two matchups. Last season, the Barons won 8-2 at home. The score would be 2-2 after 18 minutes of play before the Barons scored six unanswered goals. Bella Rubino scored a hat-trick, while Tania Davidson and Juliana Rubino scored two goals apiece in the win.
