How It Happened
The Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving made their first trip ever to Allegheny on Saturday afternoon to take on the Gators. They made the trip well worth it by defeating the Gators 107-81 in a close dual match.

Relays may have been the difference today for the Barons, as they earned 30 points combined among the two relays today. The team of Sarah Kelty, Janie Whatley, Sydney McGee, and Rachel Pergi won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.41. In the other relay, 400 freestyle, Madeline Dietrich, Jessica Stiles, Amelia Doyle, and Sarah Kelty took the win with a time of 4:29.86. 

Out of the other nine events, the Barons won two of them but they showed their depth throughout the day. Whatley won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.58. Stiles won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.03.

Up Next
Franciscan will host Bethany and West Virginia Wesleyan for their home opener on October 21st at the Big Red Natatorium. Franciscan played both of these teams last season and were able to defeat them both in 2022. Bethany comes into the season, as the eighth ranked team in the PAC according to the PAC Coaches' Poll. West Virginia Wesleyan is a NCAA Division II program that will will bring a talented roster to Steubenville for their third meet of the year.
