How It Happened
Franciscan hosted King's College on Homecoming Saturday in front of a large crowd in Finnegan Fieldhouse. This would be the final non-conference matchup the year for the Barons. They made it count, as they picked up the win to go above .500 once again.
The first set would be all Franciscan, as they would force King's to sub in six different players in the early going. It looked like we may be in store for a quick match, but the Monarchs had different plans. They would take the second set, 25-23.
The Barons would get back on the right side in the third and fourth sets, as the Barons would get all parts of their game working.
Mary Jean Cadman had a career day with 20.5 points. The Barons blocking was the best it had been all year, as they had a season high 13 total blocks. They would send the crowd of 300+ home happy with a 3-1 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Cadman led the Barons with 15 kills, the most in her Franciscan career.
-
Gabrielle Disselkamp set a new program record with 10 service aces on the day, the most by a Baron in a four set match.
-
Gracie Francis had 4.5 blocks to lead the Barons.
-
Grace Wallace 34 set assists.
- Moore led the team with 19 digs.
Who's Next?
Franciscan will return to PAC play on Tuesday night at Saint Vincent. This will be their second matchup against the Bearcats this season, as they try to avenge their three-set loss from last month. Disselkamp led the way with 10 kills, but the Barons had too many errors to get a lead and maintain it in the previous matchup. The last matchup was a non-conference one, so we will see what team can win the more important conference matchup on Tuesday.
