How It Happened
There is just one team unbeaten in the PAC this season, and it is your Franciscan Barons. With a win today over Chatham, the Barons improve to 6-0 on the season with a 3-0 record against PAC foes.

Sarah Kelty, Janie Whatley, Jessica Stiles, and Anne Konstanty began the day off with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.15 to win by more than nine seconds. Madeline Dietrich would then win the 1650 freestyle in her first attempt at this beast of an event.

The Barons kept up the great swimming in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Rachel Pergi, Amelia Doyle, Sophia Gellner, and Sarah Kelty combined to swim a time of 10:19.30 to win this event. Whatley would then pick up her second win of the day in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.35.

The 50 freestyle would then be a highly-contested battle, as Sydney McGee would take the win with the first sub-30 seconds time of her career. Faith Sirilla would be in second just a half of a second behind her. Jessica Stiles would win Event #18, 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:32.72. Whatley made it three wins in a row, as she won the 200 yard breaststroke, and Franciscan would appear to have a commanding lead.

The Cougars would win the final four events to make it a much closer finish, as they finished the day very well.

Up Next
That concludes the competition schedule for the fall semester for Franciscan, but their season is not over. They have two meets scheduled in January, and then the PAC Championships in mid-February. Their next meet will be Senior Day, as they host Hiram and Washington & Jefferson on January 13th. These three schools played each other last season at Hiram with Franciscan earning wins over each of them. The Barons will look to keep up that success, as they return several swimmers from the Austria study abroad program to strengthen an already talented team.
