How It Happened
The Franciscan Barons made the trip to Marietta on Saturday afternoon to conclude their tough slate of non-conference games. The Pioneers would pull away with a strong second quarter to win by a score of 17-10.

Franciscan would start off slow, as they would be in a 3-0 hole after six minutes of play. That is when veteran, Grace Deegan would step up with back to back goals. Theresa Lyle would add one in of her own to level the score at three. Each team would add one a piece in the closing minutes of the opening quarter to give us a tied game after fifteen minutes.

This is when the momentum switched totally to the Pioneers. They scored seven unanswered goals in this quarter. The Barons had several good looks, but they could not get one by May, the Marietta goalie. That would give us a score of 11-4 at halftime.

Marietta would add two early goals in the third quarter before Grace Deegan added another of her own to give her a hat trick. Joanna Hilkert would score a pair in the second half as well. The Barons would play hard till the end by winning the final quarter by a margin of 4-2. Theresa Lyle scored her second goal of the day in the closing seconds, but the Pioneers would prevail 17-10.
