How It Happened
Franciscan baseball made the trip to Meadville on Sunday for a doubleheader at Allegheny. The game was originally scheduled to be at home, but with heavy rainfall, it was moved to Allegheny with an all-turf field.
The Gators would get the bats going early, as an RBI triple in the first would give them a lead. Kusinky would be stellar on the mound for the Gators, as he just allowed a pair of hits over eight innings of work. The Barons would get on the board in the eight, thanks to a couple of errors by the Gators. Ferroni would drive in Watson on a sacrifice fly to set the score at 2-1. The Gators would add insurance in the eighth to take an 3-1 lead to the final inning. Cunningham would come in to earn the save for the Gators to take game one.
At the Plate
- Watson and Froman had the lone hits for Franciscan.
- Ferroni had the RBI with a sacrifice fly.
- The Barons drew three walks.
On the Mound
-
Jesse Izzo went one inning with one earned run.
-
Jonathan Perez was very effective through three innings with no earned runs.
-
Dominic Brandi made it three innings with a solo home run being his lone blemish.
-
Matthew Gambrel cleaned up the last inning with one earned run on his stat line.

How It Happened
Franciscan would look to rebound with their ace,
Jacob Watson, on the mound for the second nine inning battle with the Gators. Hits and runs would be hard to come by for seven innings before the Gators pulled away to win 6-0
It appeared we had a pitching dual once again, hits were hard to come by in this game. The Gators would break through with some small ball in the third. Samayoa would score on a double from Nolin to give them a 1-0 lead. A sacrifice fly in the sixth would double their lead to two. That would be all that Watson would allow, as he would deliver seven tough innings of work.
The Barons would run into some trouble in the bottom of the eighth with the Gators getting four runs off the bullpen. The Barons would not be able to overcome the deficit in the ninth, as the home team would complete the sweep.
At the Plate
- Falconite, Robb, Ferroni, and Gambrel each had one hit.
- The Barons drew three walks.
- Froman stole one base.
On the Mound
- Watson pitched seven innings allowing four hits and two earned runs.
- He struck out seven while walking just three.
Up Next
The Barons are scheduled to resume PAC play at Geneva on Tuesday. The Barons are 5-2 all-time against the Golden Tornadoes, as they went 2-1 against them last season. In the win on the road last season,
Dylan Robb hit two home runs while driving in four runs to lead the offense to a 7-4 win.
