How It Happened
The Franciscan Barons hosted their local, rivals, the Bethany Bison on Saturday afternoon. Rain and high winds move make the playing conditions quite difficult, but threat did not stop the Barons from earning a dominant victory.

The Bison would strike first, as they would be leading after the first quarter by a score of 3-2. That got the Barons attention, and Head Coach Brittany Bain made some adjustments that got the team firing on all cylinders in the second quarter.

Grace Deegan scored two quick goals to give Franciscan the lead back at 4-3. The Barons would then have four other players, Joanna Hilkert, Katheryn Brehm, Theresa Lyle, and Kiera Wilson, find the back of the net. Franciscan outscored Bethany 6-0 in the second quarter to take an 8-3 lead into the half.

The Bison would respond with the first two goals of the second half to cut the defecit to three goals. Thankfully, for the Franciscan fans, that would be as close as they would get to the lead. Deegan and Lyle would carry the way with three goals each in the second half to to keep this one out of reach. With the win the Barons moved to 2-0 in conference play, as they sit a top the standings along with four other teams, including Grove City, who comes to town on Wednesday.

Franciscan will conclude their three-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon, as they host Grove City. The Barons are in search of their first win over the Wolverines after a pair of tough losses last season. In the regular season, they fell 15-14 in a controversial overtime contest. They then matched up in the PAC Playoffs with Franciscan on the wrong side. The Wolverines hold a losing record thus far this season, but are off to a strong start in conference play, as are the Barons.
