How It Happened
The Barons made the trip to Cahtham on Saturday for a pivotal PAC matchup with the Cougars. Despite the Barons not having any subs, they would power through to win a back and forth thriller by a score of 9-8.
Carolyn Cooke and Grace Deegan were the first to score, as it looked like Franciscan may take total control of this one early. Instead the Cougars answered with two of their own to give us a 2-2 game after one quarter. Deegan would get the offense going once again by scoring the first two goals of the second quarter. The Cougars would rally back to tie it up at 4-4 with four minutes to play in the quarter. Cooke would score her second of the day before Chatham added a late on to send us into halftime all square at five.
Chatham would take their first lead of the day at 7-6 just three minutes into the second half. Cooke would score her third of the day to tie it up and send us to the fourth. The offense would hold onto some momentum, as they would score the first two goals of the fourth to have a 9-7 lead with ten minutes to play. Rose Kane and the Franciscan defense would stand strong, by only allowing one goal down the stretch to hold on and win this one.
Inside the Numbers
-Grace Deegan led the way with four goals and five points.
