How It Happened
The Barons came into tonight's game with one conference win and the fourth place team in the conference sitting at three wins. If the Barons won tonight and Saturday, and the other teams ahead of them lost the rest of the way they could have back door snuck into the 4th seed and earned a playoff berth. A tough offensive attack from the Bearcats ended that dream.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. The Barons didn't find their first goal until early in the 2nd quarter. The Barons won the faceoff to start the quarter then bombarded the Bearcat goalkeeper with two shots, one from Francis and one from Cook, before Dhabliwala found Cook open for another attempt. This one found the back of the net only 30 seconds into 2nd quarter play. Scordino scored the second Baron goal later that quarter off a Nathaniel Carter assist.
In the second half, Cook and Francis continued to put pressure on the Bearcat goalkeeper. Each of them notched another goal in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter the Barons scored one solo goal from Marshall to round out their 7 goal game.
