Meet Information
Race:Â National Catholic Championship - 5K
Location:Â South Bend, Ind.
Short Story:Â The Barons have several runners set PRs while beating some Division I runners at Notre Dame.
Race Highlights
Franciscan Women's Cross Country made the trip to Notre Dame on Friday to compete in the National Catholic Championship an event the Barons have competed in nearly every year since 2009. In the field of 11 teams, most of which came from Division I and II, the Barons placed 10th with 282 points.Â
Lauren Dosch led the way for the Barons with a time of 19:21.40 in the 5K race to place 57th overall in the 139 runner field. That is a new personal best time for her in this length race. Her time was the fastest by a freshman from Franciscan at this event since 2010 when Nicole Krajewski posted a time of 19:16. Her time would also be the third fastest of all Division III runners in the field, as two runners from Loras would finish ahead of her.Â
Next to finish for Franciscan was
Jessica Campbell in 86th place.
Rachel Hurley was not far behind, as she set a new personal record time for a 5K.
Annie Seida placed 102nd in her first collegiate 5K, and
Anne O'Boyle rounded out the top five finishers.Â
Notre Dame would win the title this season with a team score of 18 points. They had runners place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th while on their home course.Â
