Wallace Eclipses 1000 Set Assists Against Bison

Franciscan 0, Bethany 3

Franciscan Starters
Gracie Francis, Gabrielle Disselkamp,  Rani Hebert, Brynn Jacobson,  Grace Wallace, Annelise Davis, & libero - Sara Moore

How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Volleyball hosted Bethany on Tuesday evening. There would be a familiar face on the opposing sidelines, as Bethany Head Coach, Jordan Barton, coached the Barons from 2021-2022. Barton would get the win today, but these two teams will meet again in a conference match next month.

The first set would be all Bison to start, as they jumped out to a 15-5 lead. Franciscan's bright spot was a historical one, as Grace Wallace became the third Baron in program history to eclipse 1000 set assists. The Barons would battle though, as they found a pair of 4-0 runs to cut into the lead, but they fell 25-18.

The Bison were first to 15 in the second set at 15-12. Sara Moore and Annelise Davis added aces, as they chipped into the lead. Angela Sweeney added a kill in relief, but the Bison would take the second by a score of 25-19.

Franciscan would not show any signs of quitting, as they jumped out to a 6-2 lead to start the third set. Disselkamp had a pair of kills, and Cassidy McCollum added an ace. The momentum would swing, as Bethany answered with a 7-0 run of their own to retake the lead. The lead would flip back and forth a couple of times and even be tied at 19-19 in this set. The reigning PAC Champs would close it out by a score of 25-21.

Inside the Numbers
- Disselkamp led the Barons with seven kills.
- Wallace had 20 set assists on the night
- The Bison had 19 errors to the Barons 17.
- Sara Moore led the team with 20 digs.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will continue non-conference play, as they travel to Mount Aloysius on Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The Barons are 10-6 all-time against the Mounties, as they used to play every year when they were both member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). They played each other last season, and the Barons were able to win in four sets. Renee Antonelli and Elizabeth Luebbers each had 13 kills, and Grace Wallace had 45 assists in the win.
