How It HappenedÂ
This is only the third time the Barons have ever faced off against the Yeomen. The prior two times both ended in losses.Â
To start the game, the Barons were immediately on their heels. Oberlin had a corner kick opportunity just 3 minutes into the game. They had significant control of the ball recording 3 unanswered shots before the Barons were able to flip the field and apply some offensive pressure. Bella Rubino, who was coming off a 2 goal game, fired one at the goalkeeper. Oberlin flipped the field quickly to record a shot just 37 seconds after Rubnio SOG. The Barons slowly worked their position into the attacking end and Juliana Rubino put one past the goalkeeper for her first goal of the year, and putting the Barons up 1-0.
The second half spelled trouble for the Barons. Oberlin's Heather Benway scored a hat-trick in the second half. The Barons offensive pressure also improved in the second half. They registered 6 shots compared to just 3 in the first half. However, the Oberlin goalkeeper also stepped up her second half game saving all 4 SOG.
