How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan made the trip out west to take on Muskingum on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, the Fighting Muskies were able to continue their recent successes against the Barons, as they won in three sets.
Elizabeth Luebbers had three kills in the opening set, as the Barons would battle from behind early. A 5-0 run would pull them within four at 15-19, but Muskigum would close out the opening set. The Barons would not get any traction the second set, as the home team had all the momentum. In the third, they were able to put a couple of runs together, but untimely errors and solid offensive attacks from the Fighting Muskies would be too much to overcome.Â
Â
Inside the NumbersÂ
- Luebbers, Cadman, and Disselkamp all had four kills.
-
Sara Moore had seven digs.
- Muskingum had 11 aces and swung it at a .347 clip.
Up Next
Franciscan will begin PAC play on Saturday at Washington & Jefferson. This will be their first and lone matchup against the Presidents this season. The Barons are 3-12 all-time against the Presidents, but they have won each of the last two meetings. Last season, the Barons beat them twice, both in five sets. The conference win came in Steubenville with Franciscan winning the second, third, and fifth sets. The Presidents will enter the game with a 9-8 record this season with wins in six of their last seven like the Barons.Â
