The Latest
- The Barons made the trip to Hamburg, New York over the weekend to take part in the Hawks Against Hunger Tipp Off Tournament. On Friday night, they took care of business with a 75-70 win over Lycoming to earn spot in the Championship on Saturday against the host, Hilbert College.
- On Saturday, the took down Hilbert 80-75, as they were in total control of the game in the second half.
Sawyer Butler and
Josh Zimmerman were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Scouting the Lions
- Last season, the Lions held a 15-10 record. One of their losses came against the Barons in Steubenville by a score of 90-85. Five Barons scored in double figures, and all five will play in the game on Tuesday.
Karl Yonkeu led the way with 20 points and pulled in 11 rebounds for the double double.
- The Lions are off to a 1-0 start this season. The beat Penn Highlands 85-70 on November 1st in their lone game so far. They were led by Ta'Rasi Means who scored 25 points,a s they shot 50% from three with 10 makes beyond the arc.

Sawyer's Streak

Sawyer Butler, the reigning PAC Player of the Week,  has scored 20+ points in five straight games dating back to last season. To end last season, he scored 26 points against Westminster, 22 versus Allegheny, and 26 in the season finale to Waynesburg.Â
- Over the weekend, he scored 22 against Lycoming and 21 against Hilbert, as he leads the Barons in scoring through two games. He is shooting 46.7% from deep as he has made a team-high seven three point field goals.
Historic Start
- This is the first time the Barons started a season 2-0 since the 1974-75 season. In that start, Head Coach Tim Sommerville led the Barons to wins over the Czechoslovakia National Team (90-73) and Dyke College (97-62). That team was also the last team to start 3-0, as they went on to beat Kent State 80-70.

Josh Zimmerman ranks 9th on the all-time scoring list that goes back to the College of Steubenville days. He enters this game with 1,166 points. Frank Sapienza '57 sits in eighth with 1,172 points. Sean Hickey '21 holds the Franciscan Division III record with 1,692 points, and Paul Brownlee '56 sits atop the all-time rankings with 2,433 points.
- He is closing in on becoming the all-time leader in assists. He sits in second with 261. With 23 assists this season, he will pass Jacob Divens '18 (277) to become the program leader. That will be his second major program record, as he is the program all-time leader in steals with 192 coming so far.
- He sits 14th all-time in rebounding with 592 boards. Al Canty '70 sits one spot above him in 13th with 610 rebounds. Matt Trent '20 holds the Franciscan Division III record with 781 rebounds, and "Big" Jim Smith '58 sits atop the rankings and all levels of collegiate basketball with 2,334 rebounds.

Home Opener History
- Franciscan is in search of their first win in a home opener since the 2018-19 season. They were able to beat Westminster, then in a non-conference game, by a score of 75-66. Sean Hickey led the way with 20 points, and Joe Schriner added 16 in a big win over the Titans.Â
