How It Happened
The Barons open up their year with a pair of home wins. Today on the hill, a freshmen rose up and had the greatest single game performance the University has ever seen. Freshmen Joseph James broke the program record for points in a game set by Joe Lomady in 2017 with James' 15 points. That 15 point effort included 9 goals which ties his teammate Gavin Cook for the third best single game performance in goals, and teammate Alexander Dhabliwala with 6 assists which is 6th best in program history. He accomplished this feat off incredibly efficient numbers. Of his 19 shots, 12 of them were on target, and he committed 0 turnovers.
The freshmen's skill was complimented with twelve man up opportunities. This afternoon was one of the messiest games the hill has seen with a total of 19 penalties called (three waved off due to goal scores). Franciscan had a clear advantage only committing a third of the total penalties. As a result, they build a large lead doubling the Terrier offensive efforts. Today's game was a drastic change from last year's season opener that went into overtime.
Inside the Numbers
-the Barons produced goals on 4 of their 12 man up opportunities
-Miraglia and Redmond led the Barons with 2 caused turnovers
-Freshmen James Masso trailed only James in offensive opportunities with 12 shots and 9 SOG
