How It Happened
Both teams came into this one with undefeated marks through a couple of games. On a windy night in Steubenville, the Fighting Muskies would come out with a dominant first half and hold on to win and remain unbeaten.
Franciscan would get behind early, as Muskingum netted seven first quarter goals. Joseph James would score his first of four goals to chip into the deficit, but the score would be 7-1 heading into the second quarter. There the Fighting Muskies would tally five more goals to the Barons one to take a 12-2 lead into the half.
The Barons came out better in the second half. Nathaniel Carter, Alex Ahmann, and Gavin Cook each scored a goal on a Franciscan 3-0 run. James netted another for the Barons to win the third quarter by a 4-3 margin. James would tally his final two goals in the last quarter, including one on a man-up opportunity. Muskingum would possess the ball well to finish out this game with a score of 19-8.

Up Next
Franciscan will play on the road for the first time this season, as they travel to Marietta on Saturday. The Barons are 0-3 all-time against the Pioneers. In their last matchup against them in 2023, it was a close battle with Marietta winning by a score of 12-7. Gavin Cook netted three goals, but the Pioneers pulled away late to take down the Barons.
