Franciscan Baseball Plays Two Against Geneva

Franciscan 5, Geneva 6 - 9 Innings

Franciscan Lineup
Anthony Franzonello RF, Nicholas Peffer SS, Peter Falconite 2B,  Wade Stoehr 3B, Samuel Tyler CF, Dylan Robb 1B, Devon Ashcraft LF, Holden Armstrong RF, David Ferroni, & Jonathan Perez P

How It Happened
Franciscan and Geneva would move their game to Wednesday after a washout on Tuesday. After a quick first inning, the Golden Tornadoes would score a pair of runs on a two out bloop single in the second inning. Geneva would keep it up in the third, as they would add one run to take a 3-0 lead. The Barons would get on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single from Wade Stoehr to set the score at 3-1.

The Barons would get the bats going in the eighth, as they would get into the Geneva bullpen. Peter Falconite had the big swing on a 2-RBI double to tie the game at 3-3. Stoehr would drive in the go ahead run on a ground out, and then Samuel Tyler ripped one down the line to score an insurance run. The lead would not be safe though, as the Golden Tornadoes would rally to score three runs in the ninth. The Barons would threaten in the ninth but not get a tying run across the plate.

At the Plate
- Peffer and Falconite each had two hits.
- Ferroni set a new program record with four walks in the game.
- Tyler drove in his 10th run of the season.

On the Mound
- Perez had his longest outing of the season with six strong innings.
- Andrew Heidemann had two clean innings but took the loss with a tough ninth.
- Franzonello got the final two outs.

Franciscan 6, Geneva 12 - 9 Innings

Franciscan Lineup
Anthony Franzonello RF, Nicholas Peffer SS, Samuel Tyler CF, Wade Stoehr P/DH, Peter Falconite 2B, Benedict Urbanczyk LF, Sebastian Juarez 3B, David Ferroni C, & John Hall 1B

How It Happened
The Barons would look to respond in game two, but the Golden Tornadoes would take advantage of another 3-0 lead early. Ferroni would get the Barons on the board with an RBI single in the fourth, and then John Hall would drive in Sebastian Juarez to set the score at 3-2.

Unfortunately, Geneva would add a pair of runs in the fifth to take the lead back up to three runs. The Barons would chip into the lead in the home half of the inning with a run scored on a Geneva error. The sixth inning would be where Geneva would separate with five runs, including a three run last by Bearjar. Franciscan would not quit, as they would respond in the bottom of the sixth with a crooked number of their own. It all started with the bottom of the order once again. Hall drove in Juarez, and then Franzonellow scored Ferroni on a ground out. Samuel Tyler would make it a three run inning with a knock to drive in Hall.

That would make it a four run game with three innings to play, but that would be as close as the Barons would get.

At the Plate
- John Hall had his first three-hit game of his career.
- Ferroni had a pair of hits and a walk to reach base seven times in the two games.
- Stoehr hit two doubles and scored a pair.

On the Mound
- Stoehr took the loss with four earned over five innings of work.
- Holden Armstrong and Andrew Heidemann each pitched an innings.
- Franzonello pitched two scoreless with a pair of strikeouts.
