How It Happened
Franciscan would play conference doubleheaders on back to back days on the road, as they traveled to Waynesburg on Wednesday afternoon.Â
In game one, the Yellow Jackets would get out to an early lead with three runs in the first and another run in the third to lead 4-0. The Barons would get on the board in the fourth.
Dylan Robb would rip a double to center field that scored
Samuel Tyler, and then
Diego Perez would drive in Robb on a double of his own.Â
In the sixth,
David Ferroni would drive in
Devon Ashcraft on a single, but Waynesburg would put up a crooked number to once again take a commanding lead of 9-3 after six. In the seventh,
Holden Armstrong hit his first collegiate home run, a solo shot. That would be it for the Franciscan offense, as Waynesburg would win 10-4.
At the Plate
- Robb had another multi-hit game with two.
- Armstrong's homer was the first for the Barons this season.
- Tyler and Ashcraft each stole one base.
On the Mound Â

Jonathan Perez allowed nine runs, only two earned over five and two thirds.

How It Happened
The Barons and Yellow Jackets would reset for another nine-inning battle. This time the Yellow Jackets would get out ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
Wade Stoehr would get the Barons on the board in the third with a RBI double that scored
Peter Falconite.Â
The Barons would threaten a couple of times over the remaining innings, as they had nine hits, but they would not be able to break through until the ninth inning. Falconite singled in Franzonello and
Benedict Urbanczyk to set the score at 7-3 which would hold as the final.Â
At the Plate
- Armstrong, Falconite, and Ashcraft each had two hits.
- Franciscan had four doubles.
- Franciscan walked twice and struck out once.
On the Mound Â
- Heidemann would pitch five effective innings with three strikeouts.Â

Shae Mummey had another quality relief appearance with two innings of one run ball.
Franzonello pitched a scoreless eighth.Â
Up NextÂ
The Barons will return to action at home on Friday against Mount Aloysius. The non-conference matchup is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. The Barons are 0-6 all-time against the Mounties, but they have not played them since 2011. They have been one of the top teams in the AMCC over recent years, and they are off to a good start in 2024 with a 15-8 record coming into Friday's action.Â
