How It Happened
It would be an early start in Steubenville, as the Cougars and Barons would square off at 11:00 a.m. Before the game, Franciscan would honor six seniors for their year's of commitment to the program.
The Barons would be sharp early with a pair of goals in the first nine minutes. Joanna Hilkert and Theresa Lyle would each score to give the Barons a 2-0 lead. The Cougars would end the quarter on a 3-0 run to end it with a one goal lead.
After a handful of cards and players in the penalty box, the Cougars would tack on a couple of goals to take a strong hold on the lead. Brooke Biagi though would have different plans, as she scored back to back goals to tie it up at 5-5. Chatham would then score six unanswered to take a commanding lead into halftime.
Carolyn Cooke and Jonna Hilkert would score second half goals, as both defenses would settle in and dominate the second half. That would result in the visitors getting the win today.
Inside the Numbers
-Biagi had nine draw controls to jump into fifth all-time in program history in her first season at Franciscan.
