How It Happened
The Barons would host Pitt.-Greensburg on a beautiful day in Steubenville for a non-conference doubleheader. The Barons would control the tone of this game from the beginning, as
Jonathan Perez would strike out the first three batters of the game. Ashcraft would then knock in Stoehr in the second on a sacrifice fly to get Franciscan on the board. The Barons would open up the flood gates in the third. Nemmers doubled in Ferroni. Then with one out, Falconite would single in Nemmers. Stoehr and Tyler would each add RBI singles this inning, and then a passed ball would score Stoehr.
John Hall would make it five runs this inning with a ground out to set the score at 6-0.
Holden Armstrong would then drive two in in the fourth, and then drive in one in the sixth to add some more insurance. Stoehr would add another RBI shot, and Hall would drive in a pair to set the score at 12-0. Perez then would allow a pair of runs in the seventh, as
Wade Stoehr would toe the rubber to get the final out and give the Barons their eighth win of the season.
At the Plate
- Stoehr and Armstrong each had three hits.
- Armstrong and Hall each drove in three.
- Nemmers and Stoehr each scored three.
- The Barons walked twice and struck out three times.
On the Mound
- Perez went 6.2 innings with a career-high eight strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game two felt promising after the first, as the Barons plated a pair.
John Nemmers scored first off of an errant throw from their catcher, who was trying to catch Armstrong stealing. Armstrong would later score on a wild pitch to give Franciscan a 2-0 lead. A Ferroni sacrifice fly in the second would help the Barons regain their two-run advantage at 3-1, but from there this game belonged to the Bobcats. They would score 24 runs on 24 hits with some help from some Franciscan errors in the field.
At the Plate
- Eight different Barons earned one hit.
- Ashcraft had the lone extra-base hit with a double.
- Armstrong had the lone stolen base.
- Four different Bobcats had four hits, including Smith who had five to lead the team.
On the Mound
- Cavalieir pitched 2+ innings after he was chased out in the third.

Up Next
The Barons will look to finish out the 2024 season with a three game series against Penn State Shenango. The first two games will be in Sharon, Pa. on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m. The final game will be at home on Sunday May 5th at 2:00 p.m. This will be the first time that these two teams have played each other in program history.
