How It Happened
Last night, the Barons faced OAC opponent Marietta College Pioneers.  The Barons celebrated the game with the inaugural event for the James2Project created by new AD Danny Anderson. We welcomed youth from the Sycamore center who were in attendance and walked out with the Franciscan Starters.
The Barons took an early lead in the 9' minute off this year's cleanest play yet. Jonathan Schriner dribbled the ball up the right side of the field in a 3 v 3 situation. His lead pass split two defenders to forward Julien Freeman streaking up the middle of the field. Freeman took one quick touch then sent the ball further left to Lucas Cross. Cross punched it in to score what ended up being the winning goal.
Late in the second half the Barons had a corner kick. Miller took the corner and found Rice on the far side of the net. Rice' shot went wide right, but stayed in play. Daniel Wayert collected the errant shot on the right side of the net 20 yds out near the end line. He attacked the net, and with a very shallow angle, tried powering a shot through the goalkeeper. The pioneer keep took the shot to the chest and the ball rebounded right back to Wayert. While the keep was collecting himself and getting back on his feet, Wayert was able to take a few steps out to improve his angle then send it home with a fairly open net.
The 2-0 lead was a commanding performance by the Barons. The Pioneers had very little opportunities to threaten on the offensive end.

Inside the Numbers
-Aiden Miller recorded his third shutout of the year registering 4 saves
-Every Baron win this season has been a shutout
-Venditti had a game-high 5 shots
-Cross' goal gives him 5 for the year and on-pace to destroy last year's season total of 15
