How It Happened
Franciscan concluded their stretch of three road games in consecutive days on Saturday with a win at Chatham in four sets. That improved the Barons record to 9-3 in non-conference play.

Action would be back and forth to start, but Franciscan would largely be in control. King would add back to back kills to help the Barons reach 15 first at 15-12. Franciscan would expand the lead to five at 22-17 and go on to close out the opening set 25-21. The Barons would have 14 of their 43 kills in the first.

Franciscan would take advantage of a handful of Chatham miscues , and Sara Moore added an ace to take a 5-1 lead in the second set. Chatham would clean up their play and tie it up at 8-8. Franciscan would not get discouraged, as they would go on a run to take a four point edge at 16-12. Mary Jean Cadman would have five of her team-high 13 kills in this set. The Cougars would make a late run to tie it up at 17-17, but Franciscan would regroup to close out the second set 25-22.

It would be all Chatham in the start of the third, as they took a 5-0 advantage. The Barons would pull to within two at 12-10, but that would be as close at they would get to to Cougars the rest of this set. Chatham would stay alive with a 25-20 win in this set.

Set number four would be a reversal from the previous one, as Franciscan would take a 10-1 lead to set the tone. The Barons offense would be firing on all cylinders with 13 kills this set from a variety of players. Angela Sweeney and Tessa Miller would close this one out with kills in the final two points.

Inside the Numbers
- Cadman led the Barons with 15.0 points, including two solo blocks.
- Moore had four of Franciscan's five aces.

Up Next
Franciscan will conclude non-conference play on Wednesday night at Muskingum. The Barons have not played the Fighting Muskies since 2017. This will be the 18th time that these two teams have played, as the Barons are in search of their first win in this series. Muskingum has had an up and down season. They have earned wins against Chatham and Waynesburg in three sets and lost a five set battle to Allegheny.
