How It HappenedÂ
The Barons win streak and climb up the PAC standings was halted last night with an 0-2 loss the the #1 Grove City Wolverines. The effort to hold the Wolverines only two goals may have an impact as goal differential is the third determiner in PAC standings. Coach Miller had the following to say about his teams performance; "Overall, our effort as a team was good throughout the entirety of the game. We knew that it was going to be a challenge defensively, because of the way Grove City plays. We had moments where we defended well and moments when we did not defend well. In the end, those moments of not defending well cost us. There are lots of positives to take from the game. We now know that we can go toe to toe with one of the best teams in our conference. We now have to take that confidence with us in the next 4 games. We have to continue to take it one day at a time, push each other each day, and the results will come!"
They now sit in 7th place with two teams directly above them in the standings left to play and Hiram who is chasing right behind them.
Inside the Numbers Â
- Giguere made 13 saves the second most of any freshman
- Teaghan accounted for 5 of the Barons 7 shots
Who's Next?Â
Franciscan returns home for four-consecutive games in Steubenville to conclude the regular season. That kicks off with Waynesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Barons and Yellow Jackets have played each other 15 times, and the all-time series sits at 7-7-1. They tied 1-1 last season.
Eva Dexter scored early in the second half, but the Yellow Jackets found an equalizer with nine minutes left. Waynesburg along with Allegheny are a pair of teams left on Franciscan's schedule that currently sit above them in the standings. A win against them would go a long way in climbing the standings to secure playoff position.
