How It HappenedÂ
The men's soccer team hosted the #3 Allegheny Gators at home for the 2025 PAC Semifinals. It was a very Ohio Valley, up on the hill evening with light rain, cold temperatures, and hurricane level winds. The wind being a significant factor in team strategies and gameplay.Â
The Barons took an early 2-0 lead, but were unable to enter half with the comfortable two goal lead. Just before the first half time expired, the Gators snuck in a goal to come to within one of the Barons. Coach always stresses the importance of being the first team to score out of the half. With the wind at our backs, the men came out and scored the first two drastically putting the momentum in their favor. To put the wind in perspective the first goal of the second half came off a corner kick. The Barons earned that corner kick from
Aiden Miller's goal kick which was carried across the entire field. The ball took it's first bounce just outside of the penalty box. It took one quick hop and went through the hands of the Gator keeper and out the back line. Likely an NCAA record for how fast a field gets flipped. The first goal mentality proved correct in the Barons tallying three goals in the second half and the Gators only scoring one.Â
By the Numbers
- Gators tallied 0 SOG
- Goduti had his first multi-goal game
